Today’s Tweets

August 2nd, 2009 by Gideon Haigh in The Ashes 2009

There is no such thing as bad publicity. Cricket’s best known Twitterer, PH408, has Tweeted again this morning: ‘Looking outside the weather looks OK! Crickets a funny game and a lot can happen in two days!If the weather holds you never know!!!!! Cheers.’ On Day 1, PH408 had 1257 followers; now he has 6819. If only Test runs came as easily.

Sending a different kind of message, Brett Lee is bowling on the practice strip to the left of the square as I write, has just hit the plastic stump and rehearsed a send-off. Jamie Cox is in position as umpire, Troy Cooley is proving rather permeable as backstop. The rest of the innings shapes as a bit of a bowl-off between Hilfenhaus, Siddle and Johnson as to who does not make way at Headingley, where Lee or Clark will surely play. Keep an eye on their Twitter accounts.
