Shah, Bopara, Harmison. Three very talented individuals, all now with more time on their hands than they might have anticipated.
At last the two Andrews have been able to craft tour squads in their own images. It feels like that Flower the pragmatist has spoken: he doesn’t want flaky, he wants people he can trust, reliable people.

Owais Shah has been left out of England’s ODI squad for South Africa. It is the conclusion of a terribly sad story.
Was there ever a man who looked so alone in the England team? Pictures of him sitting on the England balcony were a study in solitude. For a man like Shah, injuring Joe Denly in a football warm-up must have fell like spilling some red wine on the new carpet of someone you don’t really know.

Returning to competitive cricket? I’m as happy as dingo that’s just had a big win on the pokies and then seen a two-for-one offer on babies at the local deli.
Now it wouldn’t be a contest without a bit of a prediction from yours truly, and even though I’m not entirely certain of the tournament format, I’m going to stick the neck out and say we’re going to stuff The Poms 5-0, and anyone else that we happen to come across as well.
