Sign up for the TWC Newsletter and enjoy the junk

September 30th, 2008 by Sam Collins in Miscellaneous

You know what it’s like. It’s your lunch break, it’s raining, you’ve already
read the whole of the internet while neatly side-stepping work during the
morning. You check your inbox - there’s nothing there. In desperation, you
check your junk mail - there’s nothing there.

But it doesn’t have to be this way. Sign up for The Wisden Cricketer
newsletter and you’ll receive a hilarious and irreverent piece of junk mail
EVERY SINGLE WEEK.

There’s a groundswell of indifference and you could be part of it. Don’t
miss out.

Here’s an extract from last week’s to get you in the mood….

The Wisden Cricketer
Newsletter. Issue No.11. September 25

This week’s…

Other guy “McGain had a terrific season and the other guy, well figures-wise he wasn’t that impressive but he does give it a bit of a rip so he has a real chance.” Former Australia spinner, Ashley Mallett, talks up Jason Krejza.

Happy retirement “I am happy to finish with an Aussie in my pocket.” Darren Gough after making Justin Langer his final first-class victim.

Room for improvement “In 2001, I made next to no runs. The last series over there that we won, I broke my thumb and missed the first three Tests and came back for the last one - and that was the only one we lost.” Ricky Ponting looks forward to a better personal contribution in the upcoming India Tests.

Chopping on

There’s every chance that Peter Siddle won’t play for Australia in the coming Test series against India, but in picking a 23-year-old with only 11 first-class matches to his name, Australia’s selectors have signalled that they think he’s a player for the future.

But if Siddle establishes himself and goes on to win an Ashes series or a World Cup, it’ll be nothing compared to the victories of his teenage years: Peter Siddle won a number of district under-age woodchopping titles. A number of them!

Why is the weekly mail so badly formatted? Maybe it’s a gmail thing, but I had to scroll horizontally just to read the bloody thing.

    A technical gremlin this week i’m afraid…

    Resend coming soon

  3.   Suave says:

    Thanks Sam.
